Wakey Wakey!

I usually never wake Julian up if I don't have to...but his nap had already surpassed 3.5 hours and it was 5:00 pm; I was getting worried he'd never go to bed that night. He woke up so cute!

New Favorites

One of J's favorite new toys is the vacuum. He loves to look at all the parts and drag it around the house...now I just need to teach him how to plug it in and turn it on...

And he is officially obsessed with sidewalk chalk now. He could take it or leave it a couple of weeks ago, but now he'll throw a fit when it's time to stop to come inside. He loves to walk around and draw lines everywhere: the ground, the rocks, his wagon, the siding, the screen door...

Oh, and he likes to eat it too.

Back to Bounceland

We made the journey back to magical Bounceland with Amanda and Camden the other day.

Julian is pretty much an awesome jumper (Bragging Mother Alert) and Camden was more interested in getting as many basketballs in his little hands as possible. But the boys had fun, and tired us right out...

At the Playground

We met Grandma and Camden at the park last week and had lots of fun. (Even though J ended up taking a nosedive off the slide steps. He's o-kay!)

18 Months

I can't believe my baby is a year and a half old. That sounds so big!

He doesn't have to have an 18 month appointment (whew, no shots) so I don't have official stats. But I can tell you that kid is getting taller and heavier every day.

He still loves to read books and blow bubbles and throw balls and explore. But now that it's warmer, playing outside is his favorite activity. He loves to stand at the sliding glass door in the back and open and close the screen over and over and over. I think he'd do it all afternoon if I let him.

Besides learning to climb stairs, open doors, and use a fork and spoon, Julian can now tell us what a monkey, an elephant, a doggy, and a snake say. He doesn't have a lot of words past yes and no yet, but his receptive language is astounding to me. He understands so much of what we say to him and we can communicate pretty well by asking questions.

He is always asking about the world around him, curious to know what everything is. He points to everything and asks "Eh?" We've spent entire car rides home hearing "eh? eh? eh?" as he points to the world outside his window.

He was dressed up so cute for church this morning, but the only time I could catch him still enough for a picture was when he was watching Mickey Mouse and brushing his teeth (another favorite activity).

Happy Easter

We had a nice Easter with family yesterday, although it felt very weird not going to church. Julian has had a fever for the last three days, so we didn't think it was fair to take him to Sunday School and expose all the other kids to whatever was bugging him.

As soon as J woke up and came out into the living room, he spotted his Easter basket. He had fun picking through it all, but his favorite by far was the Easter balloon I picked up on a whim at the grocery store that morning.

Although he did think the harmonica was pretty hilarious.

Then after breakfast (a carrot muffin in honor of the Bunny Himself), we had an egg hunt. I practiced with Julian the day before so he would know there were treats in those little plastic eggs (and would therefore be worth hunting for) and he had a great time! He found them all and would gobble up the treat inside of each one before looking for another.

After nap, it was egg coloring time. I thought maybe watercoloring them would be less of a mess than letting him handle cups of dye. He liked doing it for about 60 seconds and then was so over it.

All done.

I said, ALL DONE!

This picture pretty much sums it up.

Daddy thought it would be cool if we painted a Spartan S on for the big game.

Julian however, did not.

We ended up with something more like a 9.

But some pretty eggs as well!

And this momentous day brought Julian his first taste of chocolate. It's safe to say he liked it.

And last but not least: The Obligatory Bunny Picture
